We are in week four. During today’s Digital Arts lectures we were creating our website. To build it we used Wix page: https://www.wix.com/freesitebuilder/hiker-create?gclid=Cj0KCQjwit_8BRCoARIsAIx3Rj4PSyTQ509rkn0W6_nrGe8a1zmzVE1iWZAS_UbqRbI5cLg2ZtBhYfgaAmLtEALw_wcB&utm_medium=cpc&experiment_id=wix%5Ee%5E343913812270%5E.
First we were looking at photographers’ and artists website. Most interesting for me was Terry O’Neils’ website: https://www.iconicimages.net/photographers/terry-oneill.
All websites was instinctive, clear and simple to explore. Information was understandable and we could quickly access and find things we were looking for. I want my web to be clear and understandable too. It should reflect our continuation route and we will be uploading our major project to a gallery on our website for assessment.
After quick research and listening about the Legal and Ethical issues, we started to create our websites.
I started to looking for a suitable template. I choose my interests and goal for my web, and I found three positions I liked.
The first one was minimalistic and I liked that on the home page we have only basic information. I like idea with photo representing you on the home page and subdued colours.
The second one was more monochromatic. I liked this idea. It is also minimalistic, but this template has not enough information and links to pages on the home page (for me).
Then I found the third one. I liked minimalistic vibe and whole template. But I miss home page and for me it is not enough organised.
After reflection about this templates, I decided to use first one, because I didn’t have any problems with it.
I started to customise it by adding my self-portrait and my name on the template.
I chose old photo, but I am going to do a new one. I changed font and background colour for more warm. To choose a colour I use Adobe Colour Wheel:
https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel. Firs I wanted to create monochromatic page but it wasn’t looking good so I went with complementary colours.
Remember to add the tools you have used in Wix to change and edit your website in your commentary. The links you have here in your writing should be actual links, so use the embed link option in Blogger to make those go live.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to see a screenshot of the Terry O'Neil website that you found inspiring on this post as well.
I like the research you did, however I think it would be great if you used the "text to display" option when posting links, or at least enable the links to actually work, so the viewer does not have to copy the link and paste it into their browser.
