Major Project: Ideas Generation
Creating a brand identity is a complex challenge for graphic designers. It is important to understand marketing and consumer behaviour as well as practical design skills. A brand is used to promote everything from clothes to persons. Walter Landor once said “Products are created in a factory. Brands are created in the mind.”
For my Major Project I would like to create brand for my future company. As a graphic designer I need to have strong personal brand which is related with future opinion of my business and mark position. Your personal brand is your most valuable career asset when you know how to uncover, express, and nurture it.
To design a brand I need to know what I want to sell. For my business it will be graphic design service. I want to offer my skills to create things for future customers. I will need a website where I can represent my work, create portfolio and when potential client can easily contact with me. I will need to define my target audience and create specific digital advertising system. I will need to choose my brand voice and things I wanted to my brand to be associated with.
Then I will create a inspiration board and I will start to really work on ideas of my logo, logo variations, colour pallets, fonts I want to use and whole graphic style. I will need to answer the question: How do I want to represent myself? And reach my goal.
I will know when I have reached it at the time when feedback from my audience will meet my intention. Things I care about must meet what my costumers cares about.
This is an exploration of typography, but you need to be more specific about what it is you actually want to create for your project: will it be a new typeface/font? Will it be all characters in the alphabet? Will you apply them to a specific area - e.g. for use in advertising? How will you design them digitally?
ReplyDeleteI think it would be good to add URLs to the references you used, therefore a viewer could click on them and go to the websites you found the information on. Other than that, this is a nicely written post.
