Week two: creating an advertisement

 Hi! Today I will show you my journey through creating an advertisement. We have week two and task for this week is to creat an ad that is selling product or service based on our subject area. As you could read on my welcome post, my subject is graphic design. So let’s start with a brain storming. I asked myself some questions. You can read them below..

First of all “What is an advertising?”

As we can read in “Advertising” by John Sherman Wright, advertising is a powerful communication force and a vital marketing tool - helping to sell goods, services, images and ideas through channels of information and persuasion. The American Marketing Association says that “Advertising is any paid form of non personal  presentation and promotion of ideas, goods and services by an identified sponsor.”
For me advertising in our century is art of attracting attention. In world of highly developed social media and times of information overload, we have only split second to catch somebody’s attention. 

Okay. If we already know what advertising is I have to focus on my subject area. 

What is my main course? 

Graphic Design.

What I use as a graphic design? What tool do I need?
I can not imagine my everyday work without my iPad. I use it all the time. I work on it and creat graphics with my special pen. I can draw on it and create digital works. 

Is it a product I want to advertise?

Yes.
Great. Now creat some ideas. 

My thirst idea was to create something minimalistic. Maybe just product on white space, with logo and slogan? I did some research and I found out that Apple make advert in this style, so I decided to create something different. Apple slogan is “Think Different”, so I am. 

Than I started to thinking about things I like create. I like editing photos and I like draw landscapes. I wanted to create poster which present tablet in the best way. I decided to use landscape picture and showed it in two ways. Here are my results..

First of all I had to find vertical photos. I went to pixabuy.com https://pixabay.com/pl/images/search/ok/ and I started to search for photo with more details at the bottom. I wanted clear space on the top of the page. Here is my choice..

Then I started to search for iPad photos. It was hard to find but after 15 minutes I end up with this photo..

It was perfect because of style but it wasn’t transparent so I had to remove white space. 

Now I want make landscape “behind iPad” to looks less saturated than “photo on a screen”.  

Now let’s add some typography. I decided to use simple apple font and change logo. This is final effect.
