Major Project: Logo making

Logo is an element that every brand should have. It is trademark that every company should have in their visual identification. Its task is to emphasise the individuality of the company and at the same time make it different and individual. The logo is the first element that attracts attention and represents the company's values, while building the desired image, trust and positive perception of the company.

To create my logo first I asked myself some questions:

1. What do I want my logo to be associated with?

I choose: professionalism and trust.

2. What is my brand personality?

I want to create friendly brand. The most important thing is to create relationships of trust and openness and take care of good and direct contact with the client. To create for other people you need to really get to know them. I want to do my best to meet their expectations and create something they will care about.

3. Who is my target audience?

You can read about it here.

4. Where I want to use my logo?

On website, business cards and in social media.

To be more specific I choose 3 the most important words for my brand and then I added 3 more words associated with them.

Professionalism: passion, satisfaction, development

Friendly: trust, safety, stability

Creative: unconventional, colourful, “thinking outside the box”

Then I started to sketch. I knew after previous research that I wanted to create typography logo so I started to sketch first letters of my name. I tried to create them in different styles. With serifs, hand-lettering style. I played with thickness, high and shadows. I was trying to use space between letters or create more rounded styles.

When I choose style that I liked the most I created a more straight shapes on my ipad. I used Procreate app for it. To create proportional shape I used letter builder grid. I worked on it with every letter.

Then to create clear, vector logo I used Adobe Illustrator. I used letter builder grid once again but now I worked with a Bézier curves. First I added anchor points using pen tool in the most important positions. Then I used anchor points converter tool to create curves and shapes I liked to. I worked with no fill colour and black stroke colour. When I reached shape i liked I use inversion to create black body.

Here is my final product. I didn’t design colour pallet for my company yet so I went with black and gray colour.
