Week One: Further Ideas Generation

 This term we have to create major project related to our continuation route. The project should have six 2D outcomes. 

Theme that I chose is:
Expressionism. Look deeply into expressionism and incorporate style into your art and design. 

My idea for this theme is to recreate movie and theatre posters in this style. 
For my research I want to look deeper into expressionism artists, artworks and expressionism itself. What is it? What colour artists used? In which year expressionism started? What was the key ideas and accomplishments? I also want to research how movie posters and theatre posters looked in those days. 

In this project I want create my 2d works digitally. To create them I will be using my iPad. All my works will be created in Procreate app. It is a raster graphics editor app for digital painting. 

To summarise I’ll be researching:

  • Expressionism 
  • Artists and Art of expressionism 
  • Colours in expressionism 
  • Movie posters and theatre posters

    See my comment from the first thoughts post regarding artists you could look at. It might also be worth looking at Lino Cut as a way of making images for this task or at least experimenting with it, as it is a really good way of generating a dramatic and expressive image.
