Week one: Ice breaker exercise
In today’s session we were introduced to new module - Art Portfolio. We discussed assessment and course outline. This module is designed to enable us to create a portfolio of work that relates to our progression route. To start our work we spent time in class writing our welcome post that you can read here.
Second exercise was warm up exercise. We had to create a quick self-portrait. I decided to use my iPad and create digital portrait because it is the fastest way to do it for me. I used app called Procreate.
First I created new document with black background. I decided to use white colour to draw myself. I wanted to create quick sketch but white on black.
Then I uploaded my photo and I started to draw myself on second layer. I used my photo to help myself and create final drawing faster. I used inking brush called “pandani”. Because I worked with one, light colour I decided to mark light on my and don’t work with shadows.
Next step was to remove my photo. After removing it I decided to change background colour. I used eyedropper tool to pick colour of my skin. Then I darkened it and I end up with final product.

These first two initial posts are good and you write well and fluently about your work so far. This is a really well realised outcome that shows your confidence with this software and working in this way. Again, keep it up.
