What do I know about Graphic Design

What should I be doing in my subject area?

When we talk about graphic designers we usually imagine a person who sits all day in front of the computer and don’t have to even go out. It is wrong idea about what graphic design is. As a graphic designer you should be familiar with skills you need to know but also know what is going on on the market and on the world. I should know the trends, know art and design history, take part in events and be active. Before pandemic I suggest to visit art galleries, museums and go on graphic exhibitions (because they are interesting, enjoyable and inspirational). Also as a graphic I think  it is important to become a part of some groups and know people with same profession just to learn from the other. I think I also should be practice a lot. Drawing skills and illustration skills are skills that we can improve all the time. As a graphic designer I should practice, be creative and organize and I should try to know as much as I can about this subject.

What skills and knowledge do I need for my subject area?

To become a graphic designer it’s not essential to know how to draw, however it is useful skill. In my subject area I should be familiar with digital programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CAD, Adobe InDesign, Blender and many more. As a graphic designer I think it’s also very important to know digital printing and things like photo editing, books editing, printing techniques, know paper sizes and basic math related with it, types of paper, 3D and 2d programs and design techniques and colors (I mean everything what is related with world “color”).

What jobs can I get by studying in this subject?
