Major Project: Packaging Design

Image
For my project I would like to design a packaging for tea that would be selling in my Tea Shop. I designed three types of flavours. 3 main teas will be: matcha, sencha and genmaicha. For main image I choose my brand character and leaves designed inspired by original green tea leaves. For background I wanted have plain colour but finally I missed something in whole design. It did not look like tea packaging so I decided to use leaves, however I wanted them to be big and overwhelming. For every flavour I choose different colour pallete but they are all coherent. Here are my small overview of designs on front, side and tube: Designes are presented on mockups to looks like a product:

Major Project: Secondary Research

Image
In my previous post you can watch results from questionnarie that I carried out. My survey was informational to get to know things related to my project such as: what is prevues experience with product that I offer, do people know this product/place/brand and are they willing to know more if answer was "No", what people expect and what they know and do not know about the topic. For my secondary research I would like to deepen my knowledge about Japanese Tea itself. In my survey analysis I recognise that 61,8 participants did not have experience with Tea Rooms and Japanese Teas. I would like to design packaging for my future mockups so I decided that researching what Japanese Tea is like: flavors, design in Japan and what is it made of would help me to understand more topic and helps understand more my future consumers.  What is Japanese Tea?  Japanese Tea is mostly green tea. G reen tea contains plenty of antioxidants for body function and protection, amino aci...

Primary Research: Analysis

Image
In this post I would like to present my results from primary research that I carried out. For my primary research I use quantitative research method. For collecting data I used online questionary as a helping tool. Here I want review the answers and add my commentary to it.  My very first questions was only informative to create the view and understanding of what my target is. In my survey participate majority of males and people in age 18-25.  The next questions was about living and status of living.  It creates demographic view of what costumers I will have in the future.  Next questions was important for me to know what is thinking about other cultures and will other costumers be interesting in my product. I was happy when I saw that 81,3% would be interesting to learn about Japanese culture and 46,9% of participates prefer tea than coffee. Also, because I was influenced by Japanese Tea Ceremony and I would like to include this to my brand as well, I was pos...

3D Project: Prototype

Image
On todays lecture we were asked to do prototype of our 3D outcome. My 3D piece for my project will be to create mascot of my brand character. Here is prototype made from clay: In this exercise I could more understand what separate parts I had to create from the material to put everything together. After this exercise now I know that I will have to create seperetly: body, wings, dots (spots) and horns.

Project Development: Let's Get To Work - "Character Design"

Image
In this post I will develop my brand character design. I created one character, however I would like to show and design these character with different poses. Simply I will sketch and then create my character in five different situation. Here are my ideas: Character front and profil Character with cup of tea Character walking Open/Close sign with character Character waving or showing "ok" Here are final ilustrations:

Planning Primary Research

In this post I will focus on my audience. I will consider what questions I would like to ask to be sure what people will like and will expect from Japanese Tea Shop. The reason that I want to carry out a survey is to know better my audience and create brand that will stay on the market and will be interesting for the costumers.  Why target audience is important? Target audience is a group of people that are most likely to be interested in your product. It is important to know your audience and lead the project in a specific direction. If you know your target then you can make more personalised and detail product and advertising. It is easer to promote product for specific kind of people/audience than for general, big group when you are not sure that anyone will buy your product. Knowing target audience helps your company design a massaging strategy in way that will appeals direct to the type of costumers who are most likely to be your future costumer.  How I will de...

Project development in the real world

Image
In this post I want to show my ideas on packaging design. For my brand I want packaging to be based on paper. I want them to be sustainable. I designed main idea on what design will look like and I created 4 variations of packaging with this design.  First I created mood-board that I could be inspired by: Here are my sketches:

Major Project: Logo

Image
For my Art Portfolio 2 Project I decided to create a brand for imaginary tea shop. One of the most important element for brand identity is logo. My project is inspired by a Japanese culture, however it is creating to show up on European market. For my tea shop "Ryu Tea" I decided to create minimalistic logo that will connect both dragon ("Ryu") and something related to tea. I made sketches based on my brainstorming but I forgot to keep them. However the journey through designing logo wasn't easy.  My first idea was to create logo based on my brand character, however I decided later that it is nothing like minimalistic. I researched also things like: tea cup, wings, dragon fruit and typography logo. After hours of sketching I decided to use tea pot as reference although I was sceptic about this idea at the begging. However it tour out very good in my opinion ant it is the best logo that I created so far.  Logo is designed in black in white, but it could be used ...

Considering my work in the real world

In this post I will answer questions that we discussed during our lectures.  1. What influence could your project have in the real world? My project is to create Japanese Tea Shop, however I want my brand to be on European market. I think that my project could influence the real world by being the “feel like home space” for Japanese international students or for people who want to get to know the flavours of the other countries.  2. Will your project show a point of view or show something that might make people think differently? I think my project is a way to taste something oriental. It might make people think and be curious about different culture and maybe about respect for people from other cultures.  3. How else does your work have influence? People that will coming to my tea shop can relax and taste something different. Not only tea but taste the culture. It can influence students that want to relax, international students that want feel like home, other people tha...

Major Project: Research

Image
For my project I want to create packages in easy, natural style. I want to use paper bags and sustainable packaging. For inspiration I looked at Nottuo Website  https://nottuo.com/works/graphic/569  where Japanese artists present their graphic designs for packaging.  I like this packaging, becouse they meet my expectations and imagination about packaging for my brand. They are minimalistic and cute and those two things are the most important things that I want my brand identity to associate with.  Website that I was looking at is an original website, however it is in language that I do not understand. Website have portfolio where we can find graphics, web designs and products.  Here are some examples:
