Major Project: Logo making

Image
Logo is an element that every brand should have. It is trademark that every company should have in their visual identification. Its task is to emphasise the individuality of the company and at the same time make it different and individual. The logo is the first element that attracts attention and represents the company's values, while building the desired image, trust and positive perception of the company. To create my logo first I asked myself some questions: 1. What do I want my logo to be associated with? I choose: professionalism and trust. 2. What is my brand personality? I want to create friendly brand. The most important thing is to create relationships of trust and openness and take care of good and direct contact with the client. To create for other people you need to really get to know them. I want to do my best to meet their expectations and create something they will care about. 3. Who is my target audience? You can read about it here. 4. Where I want to use my logo? ...

Major Project: Logo research

Business logo is perhaps the most important element of company’s branding. Logo should represent company stands and makes it recognisable and different from other business. The primary role of a logo is to identify.  Logo is basically a simple symbol or short inscription like name of the brand or first name and/or last name if we want to connect brand with owners name. It is a strategic tool. It must achieve image goals. A well designed logo will be memorable and helps costumers to remember the brand.  In my previous post I have been researching graphic designers website. I can clearly see that almost every of them use typography logos. That means that their logos are theirs name. For most small businesses or businesses where we try to promote our personal brand, it is good idea to include name in the design to make thing easy for costumers.  The good logo is: 1. Simple  2. Identity with brand 3. Universal and timeless  4. Easy to remember  Here are e...

Major Project: Graphic Designers Website

Image
Web design is important, because it sets the first impression. It impacts how audience perceive my brand. It helps costumers to find what they want and it builds trust with them. A well-designed website is an opportunity for my business to showcase your unique features. In this post I wanted to focus on websites created for professional graphic designers. Here are examples of what I found: I found Brand Designer Jessica Jones’ website. This one I like the most. Jessica works with huge clients like Netflix but also create brand design for small to mid-size businesses. Her Home page is clear and easy to use. She is clearly defined what she is creating and for whom. Her page is categorised in two groups: brand identity design and surface design. She has portfolio, about me page and contact page. Everything is in the same design. She choose bright colours. Her background is white and every detail is preserved in the color of the logo.  Photos from:  https://www.jessicajones...

Major Project: Target Audience

Image
A target audience is a group of people that I want to interest. To “build” my target audience I need to discover what kind of people are most likely to be interested in my service. I need o know what their problems is, how they feel about it and what they currently do to try and solve it.  For example.. I am young woman which want to sell my handcrafted items. I have skills to create my product but no one will buy it, because no one knows about it. This my problem and I feel sad about it and frustrated. To solve it I am trying to hire someone who helps me create my website where I can easily sell my products and someone who create ads about it to reach as many people as possible.  Another example.. I am man in my 40s. I have my small business. I already own a website and identity, but it was created a long time ago and market now is changing very fast. I can not get new costumers because I can not catch theirs attention. My problem is that I won’t be sell more of my pr...

Major project: Initial Research

About graphic design: We use graphic design to communicate a message or to create an experience for an audience. It is the process of combining visual material (text, imagery, posters, info graphics and other elements). Graphic design isn’t just final product, it is creating ideas, sketches, research, and many other things. Designers use many tools and techniques. Every piece of design is the result of the creative process. Designers need to conduct research about client, target audience and the context. They create sketches and layouts which are part of visual exploration. This process is usually very long. Designers most of the time need to work with many ideas before they identify the best solution. Exploring multiple ideas leads to better quality work and the more time you spend looking at work, the easier it is to analyse and critique your work.  What does a designers produce? Web research

Image
In one of the our class, we were asked to research some websites to inspire ourselves creating our own. Over the next few weeks we will be making a website that should reflect our continuation route. I decided to looking for some portfolio style websites and graphic designers web.   This first one was  http://stefaniebrueckler.com/#projects  Stefanie Bruecklers portfolio. I liked template of this website and that it looks like a magazine. The fonts look very aesthetic and background colour is clear and light. Every work has title and little description. Web is intuitive and easy to use.  In second website we can observe more dark template. It give us illusion of something expensive. It is hard to use black background because we need to use a lot of contrast. I like this website but I do not want to go in this style.   On last website I was trying to find example of bad design. I found this page:  http://arngren.net/ . It is hard to read and very ...
